The Music Board of the Australian International Opera Awards is made up of individuals that bring a wealth of experience and knowledge about opera, either through their own experience as seasoned performers, or as enthusiastic and long time supporters of opera in Australia.

The role of the Music Board is to help seek out extraordinary young talent and to recommend a winner to the AIOA Board each year.

The Music Board is also responsible for showcasing and presenting outstanding talent at our four fundraising functions throughout the year.

It is our aim to present a cross section of bright young operatic artists along with seasoned professionals in high quality programming that will appeal to all our supporters.

Roger Lemke is one of Australia's leading baritones who has achieved the rare success of combining a successful career in opera and concert singer as well as a performer in music theatre.

For almost 30 years, Roger has appeared in leading roles with all of the major opera companies in Australia and New Zealand and music theatre productions including Cameron Mackintosh's Les Miserables and Cats. He performs as a guest artist in concert with some of the country's leading orchestras and has appeared on national television broadcasts such as Carols by Candlelight.

Throughout his career, Roger has demonstrated a great passion for opera and is committed to helping nurture young performers in the early stages of their careers. He is delighted to hold the position of Chairman of the International Opera Awards Music Board as he sees this as a further opportunity to impart his experience and provide artistic support, guidance and encouragement to the next generation of Australian singers.

Roger hopes to see the recipients of the Australian International Opera Awards scholarship program succeed in achieving their dream of performing on the stages of the world's great opera houses.
